A Conference in partnership with the Reason Foundation "A 21st Century Immigration Policy for the West"

A Conference presented by the LeFrak Forum and Symposium on Science, Reason and Modern Democracy, Department of Political Science, Michigan State University, in partnership with The Reason Foundation will host a Conference titled "A 21st Century Immigration Policy for the West" October 11-13, 2018 and will be devoted to exploring the crucial and contentious question of immigration.  In order to achieve some distance -- and perhaps thereby some calm and clarity – on this very fraught issue, we project the question into the future.  Looking to the remainder of the 21st Century, we ask: how are worldwide population movements and pressures likely to change in that period and, domestically, what is likely to emerge as the best posture toward immigration from the standpoint of our own economic self-interest and political principles?  To give the issue greater focus, we pose a specific hypothesis for debate and discussion.
